Sts. Joachim and Anne
Patron Saints of Grandparents
Sts. Joachim and Anne are the names traditionally attributed to the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary and thus the grandparents of Jesus. This feast day reminds us that the Christian mission is intergenerational, and that not only parents, but also grandparents, aunts, uncles, and all family members play an important role in building up the domestic Church. This means that whether we are young or old, we all have gifts and talents that we bring to the Body of Christ.
