St. Peter Chrysologus

St. Peter Chrysologus was Bishop of Ravenna in Northern Italy in the 5th century. During his life, Peter was known for his insightful and inspirational homilies, and thus Chrysologus was added to his name as it means “of the golden words”. His homilies were his weapon against the paganism that was rampant in Ravenna while he was bishop. In 1729, he was declared a Doctor of the Church, and his short yet rich homilies remain captivating today.
