Bl. Marie-Rose Durocher

Bl. Marie Rose Durocher was a founder of the Sisters of the Holy Name of Jesus and Mary. French and Canadian clergymen realized the need for a religious congregation in Canada, though a previous attempt to launch a mission to Canada did not succeed. Out of this failure, the Bishop of Montreal reached out to Marie and her friend, Mélodie Dufresne, and planned a second attempt at establishing a mission. The attempt at founding a mission with Marie succeeded and three years after Marie arrived in Canada, she founded the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. The main ministry of the sisters is to teach children in Canada.
