St. Paschal Baylón
Patron Saint of Shepherds and Eucharistic Congresses and Societies
St. Paschal Baylón was a Franciscan brother during the 16th century in Spain. He was born into a poor family and spent his childhood as a shepherd. There, he would devote his time in the field to prayer and would listen to the Church bells for Mass. He eventually became a Franciscan brother where he held many roles in the community, including porter and gardener. He became known for his personal contemplation, especially on the Eucharist, and for his compassion for the poor. Throughout his life, he combined his love of the poor with his devotion to the Eucharist through his teaching and his work.
