St. Henry
Patron Saint of Benedictine Oblates
St. Henry was a German and Italian king and ultimately the Holy Roman Emperor from 1014-1024. He was known as a competent and just ruler, even while dealing with constant conflict in all fronts of his territory. Henry faced many feuds and rebellions in his time as king, so he used his position of authority to try and bring peace to central Europe in a period when peace was rare. He also had a devout personal religious life, where he was a Benedictine oblate: a person who isn’t professed to a monastery, but follows the rule in their personal, day-to-day lives. St. Henry is the patron saint of Benedictine oblates, recognizing how he lived his faith amidst the chaos of his daily life.
