St. Catherine of Alexandria

Patron Saint of Students, Apologists, and Librarians

St. Catherine of Alexandria was a princess and scholar in the 4th century who converted to Christianity at age 14. At 18, she debated and converted 50 pagan philosophers. She was ordered to be executed on a spiked wheel by emperor Maxentius, but, when she touched the wheel, it shattered. She was then beheaded. Catherine is recognized as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. She is invoked for anyone needing wisdom, female students, and anyone working with wheels.
