St. Anthony of Padua
Patron Saint of Lost Things
St. Anthony of Padua was born to a wealthy family in Lisbon, Portugal in 1195. Anthony started schooling to become a priest when he was 15, and was ordained when he was 19. After spending some time around the Franciscans, Anthony became attracted to their charism and became a Franciscan friar. He ended up in Italy, where his preaching caught the attention of Francis of Assisi. Francis entrusted Anthony with instructing aspiring members of the order in theology in their path to ordination and he became well-known for his teaching. Even though Anthony died in 1231 when he was only 35, he played a major role in helping the blossoming order grow throughout Italy and France.
