Mary, Queen of Apostles

The title Mary, Queen of Apostles is drawn from Acts 1:13-14 and recognizes Mary’s role both in Jesus’ ministry and the ministry of the Church. She was there when Jesus began his public ministry at the wedding at Cana, and was with the Apostles upon the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Devotion to Mary, Queen of Apostles is one of the oldest Marian devotions in the Church, and today many missionary orders as well as Catholic apostolates have Mary, Queen of Apostles as their patron.

“The perfect example of this type of spiritual and apostolic life is the most Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Apostles … with her maternal charity she cares for these brothers of her Son who are still on their earthly pilgrimage and remain involved in dangers and difficulties until they are led into the happy fatherland. All should devoutly venerate her and commend their life and apostolate to her maternal care.” (Apostolicam Actuositatem, Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, 4)
