Sts. Simon and Jude
St. Jude: Patron Saint of Lost Causes
St. Simon: Patron Saint of Sawmen
Sts. Simon and Jude were a part of the Twelve Apostles. Not much is known about them apart from what is recorded in the Gospels. Simon originally preached in Egypt before entering Persia with Jude to evangelize. St. Simon is the patron saint of leather tanners. St. Jude is the patron of hopeless causes because of the miraculous cure of the King of Edessa who had leprosy. St. Jude showed a cloth that depicted the face of Christ on the face of the king, and he was cured. Both were martyred in Syria while spreading the Word of God.
