St. Vincent of Saragossa
Patron Saint of Wine Makers
St. Vincent of Saragossa was a third century deacon who was martyred when Emperor Diocletian’s Christian persecution expanded to Spain. St. Vincent, alongside his bishop, Valerius, were brought before the Governor of Spain and were told to burn a copy of the Scriptures in exchange for their freedom. St. Vincent refused and caused the governor to become so angry that he had Vincent subjected to a cruel form of torture. Throughout being tortured, St. Vincent remained ever calm, even converting his jailer right before his death.
