St. Paulinus of Nola

Paulinus of Nola (1).jpg

St. Paulinus of Nola was a prominent Roman politician, poet, and writer who converted to Christianity in the late 300s. He married a Christian named Therasia, which helped prompt his conversion. After his wife died, he was elected as Bishop of Nola and lived an exemplary life. While continuing to write poetry throughout his life, he also lived as an ascetic and was very generous to the poor. He poured all of his own personal wealth into the service of his community, helping grow the Church in Nola. "Let us listen to what all the faithful say, because in every one of them the Spirit of God breathes.” -St. Paulinus of Nola
