St. Maximilian Kolbe
Patron Saint of Drug Addicts and Imprisoned People
Saint Maximilian Kolbe was a Polish Conventual Franciscan Friar. In 1941, Maximilian Kolbe was arrested by the Nazis and taken to Auschwitz. While at Auschwitz, he volunteered to die in place of a stranger. Maximilian Kolbe is most remembered for his devotion to Mary and this humble act of giving his life so another may live. Pope Saint John Paul II declared him "The Patron Saint of Our Difficult Century."
