St. Longinus
St. Longinus is the unnamed Roman centurion who pierced the side of Jesus Christ during his crucifixion. Legend holds that he was a blind man who was healed when some of the Holy Blood touched his eyes. After the crucifixion, he converted to Christianity and became a monk. Later, he was martyred by the order of the blind governor of Cappadocia for destroying statues of pagan gods. The governor's sight was restored when the blood of St. Longinus touched his eyes.
