St. Lawrence

Patron Saint of Rome and Comedians

Saint Lawrence was a deacon in the early Church in Rome and was martyred by the Roman Emperor Valerian in 250. He is the patron saint of librarians, archivists, comedians, and cooks. He was martyred on a grill. With saintly humor he famously quipped, “you can flip me over; I’m done on this side.”
