St. Jane Frances de Chantal
Patron Saint of Forgotten People and Widows
St. Jane Frances de Chantal is best known for founding the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary in 1610. By the age of 21, she was happily married with four children, but she was left a widow at the age of 28 when her husband died in a shooting accident. She could not forgive the man who was behind the shooting accident until hearing a sermon by Francis de Sales. With the help of Francis de Sales, she founded the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary and grew the order to 86 houses at the time of her death. She is the patron saint of forgotten people, trouble with in-laws, loss of parents, and widows.
