St. Hilary of Poitiers

Patron Saint Against Snake Bites

St. Hilary of Poitiers lived in the 3rd century. He was Bishop of Poitiers and later named a Doctor of the Church. He helped develop the theology on the Trinity during a challenging period in the Church. In this difficult period, he lived out his holiness in the midst of controversy, even when he was exiled by those who disagreed with his writings. In exile, he was invited to a council in opposition to the Council of Nicaea. However, St. Hilary defended the Church and eventually returned from exile.
