St. Edmund
Patron Saint for Victims of Pandemics and Kings
Edmund the Martyr was King of East Anglia during the 9th century. Little is known about Edmund's life or reign as king, other than his martyrdom. Much of what we know about St. Edmund’s life comes from coinage produced when he was king. In 869, he was martyred by the Danes. As he went to his death, Edmund never ceased to call upon the name of Jesus. Edmund is the patron saint for victims of pandemic and for protection against the plague.
